Search Engine Optimisation FAQ
What is Search Engine Optimisation?
Search Engine Optimisation (Optimization) is, quite simply, a series of instructions
that are contained within your website to make it more likely that
potential customers for your goods and services will find your site
on the Internet. This is achieved through a variety of methods that
we have at our disposal that work within the guidelines of the search
engines themselves. After all, Google and Yahoo want people searching
for Employment Agencies in Edinburgh or Insurance Brokers in Ipswich
to find what they are looking for, just as much as the companies
themselves want to be found.
Effective Search Engine Optimisationis not about “tricking” the search engines
to get you high in the rankings. Using methods which the search
engines have outlawed will quickly get your site de-listed, which
is not the object of the exercise.
We can’t guarantee to get you number one in Google and steer
clear of anyone who says that they can. What we do guarantee is
that our highly trained Searc Engine Optimization experts will do their best to redesign you website in such a way that
it will make it much more attractive to the web crawlers who look
at the millions of websites out there, and give it a higher ranking
than before.
Although we cannot guarantee a number 1 in Google or Yahoo, our Search Engine Optimisation programmes
have in fact achieved this for many of our clients, together with many first page entries.
Have a look at the following:
Type “writing icing tubes” into Google, click on “search
the web” and out of around 350,000 entries, our client Cake
Décor Group is number 1.
Type “Polish C+E Drivers” into Google, click on “pages
from the UK” and our client Sterling Recruitment will be around
number 3 or 4 out of about 170,000.
Type “Marble Granite Slabs” into Yahoo, click on “Pages
from the United Kingdom” and our client Imperial Granites
is around number 1 or 2.
What do I need to do?
Give us a call on 01923 833599 or email us.We will discuss details of the products and
services that your company wants to promote on your website. We
also ask you for keywords and phrases that you think potential clients
will use when searching for these services.
This information will help us to work on your site to make it as
search engine friendly as possible. Some of this will involve work
behind the scenes within the coding of the site and some will affect
the way the home page is written and the text that it contains.
This may alter the way the home page is displayed and we will always
seek you approval before updating your website with these changes.
How long will it take to "Search Engine Optimise"my website?
We aim to have completed your website optimisation within 2 weeks
of receiving your order. We then start submitting your site to over
400 search engines each month. Please be aware that it can take
between 3 and 6 months for your website to be fully indexed and
ranked and that is why we ask you to take our services for a minimum
6 month contract.
Each month we continue to not only submit your site but also amend
it in line with how we see we can benefit your ranking, taking into
account where your main competitor sites are in relation to your
own. This is an on-going month by month process, where we strive
to improve your ranking.
How much does it cost?
If we haven't built your website, we charge a one-off set-up fee to go through your website page by page and make all the necessary amendments and additions. The cost of this varies with the size and complexity of your website. We then make a maintenance charge of £125 per month plus vat
with a minimum contract of 6 months. This is important as the search engines are constantly changing their criteria and we need to make monthly submissions with any required changes to your website. If your website is hosted on our secure servers, then this includes the hosting charge as well. We don't charge a set-up fee to clients for whom we have built their websites.
